An aesthetic crown lengthening is a cosmetic procedure that reduces the amount of your gum tissue seen when you smile to correct a gummy smile.

A functional crown lengthening removes excess gum tissue so that a crown restoration can cover the tooth being restored.

What is the crown lengthening process?

The gum and bone tissue around the area are cut, reshaped and stitched, so a more natural tooth is exposed. You can have only one tooth treated or get the entire gum line treated for an even and natural smile.

How long does the procedure take?

The treatment can be done in as little as an hour, but it can take longer if both bone and soft tissues are being removed.

How long does it take to heal?

Your stitches are removed after 1-2 weeks. The site should heal completely in about 3 months.

When can I start eating normal food again?

It is recommended that you maintain a soft food diet for at least a week after surgery.
